Aaron Perez – Baking and Pastry Specialist Graduate | Modesto

“I started in 2024 in September. At first I was very nervous to meet everyone and to be going back to school after a 2 year break. I started in chef Chris class with the basic. Food safety, hospitality, nutrition and math. His class was so much fun. He always had good positive energy every morning. After finishing his class we got our chef coats and kits to us in the kitchen.

Then I got to meet my chef, Chef Jen. She was the baking and pastry chef. She was so much fun to have had a teacher she was always very understanding that we have lives outside of school and that someday can be hard compared to others. My favorite mods that she taught was bread, cake and candy mod. I enjoy all the mods those 3 where my favorite.

Chef Jen always let us be creative with our baking and an time we had an idea she always found away to make it come true. Something she also did was make drinks for her students. She has made coffee, tea, and lemonade. She didn’t have to do this but she went out of her way to and it really shows that she cares for her students.

Someone else that I haven’t mentioned yet is Lindsey. She is the career service advisor for the baking and pastry program and from the very first day of starting she came to all the students and introduced herself. She gave her card out with her number and email. She was not only the career advisor but she was a friend. She would also come into class and check in with everyone. She would also spend 10 to 15 minutes getting to know all of us and we were a big class. She was an absolute angel in my eyes. She helped me fix my resume up and helped me find a job in my fill very fast.

To this day she still texts me a checks in on me and how I’m doing. Lindsey, Chef Jen and Chef Chris thank you all so much for making my time there so fun and wonderful. I appreciate all of you. Thank you all for helping make my dream come true.”
