Course Description

The Associate of Applied Science in Nursing – IDL program prepares students in the knowledge, techniques, and procedures for promoting health and providing care for individuals and groups. You’ll learn how to support patients who are sick, disabled, infirm, or in need of ongoing care—while building professional nursing skills you can use in real clinical settings.

This program includes instruction in:

  • Administering medications and treatments (as appropriate to training and clinical setting)
  • Assisting with examinations and treatments
  • Supporting patient education for health maintenance
  • Referring patients to physicians and other healthcare specialists (as part of the care team)
  • Providing safe, compassionate patient-centered care

Course Includes

Your educational pathway includes a blend of classroom learning, hands-on clinical lab skills, simulation exercises, and clinical practicum experience. This pathway will support building a strong and confident knowledge base in regard to critical thinking and clinical judgement, to prepare you for your career in nursing.

Clinical Experience

Clinical training is a major part of becoming a nurse. You’ll gain guided experience working with patients across age groups and care settings. This is where skills come together — communication, critical thinking, teamwork, and safe patient care.

ACCET Placement Rate: 77.69%
Placement Rate Methodology: All students who completed the program within 150% of the normal program length and were originally scheduled to complete the program. 2% of graduates (or 3 graduates), have been included in the placement rate calculation, who have completed training, but have waived placement assistance and are designated as waivers. ACCET has set a 15% maximum for the percentage allowed in the waiver column, all of which must be documented, including the student’s signature, date, and notification of a specific reason for the waiver. Waivers that bring the percentage above 15% will be disallowed and will increase the number of eligible completions, thereby decreasing the placement percentage.

 

Graduates of this program are trained for employment in any of the following Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) Codes.
