Redding Campus Launches New Nursing Assistant Program!
The Institute of Technology in Redding, CA launched a Nursing Assistant program in April 2019. The Nursing Assistant has an important role on the healthcare team assisting medical staff and patients. This new program will provide students with knowledge and skills to assist licensed nurses as a Nursing Assistant.
Students who study to be a Nursing Assistant will be introduced to patent rights, patient care procedures, observation and charting, vital signs, nutrition and much more! The Nursing Assistant program has been approved by the State of California Department of Public Health. Students who complete 171.5 hours of classroom and clinical training may be eligible to sit for their competency evaluation exam and apply for Certification with the California Department of Public Health.
The Nursing Assistant program length is 171.5 hours which works out to 33 class days, approximately 7 weeks to obtain a diploma. As a Nursing Assistant, graduates who obtain their Certification with the Department of Public Health can pursue entry-level employment in a variety of healthcare settings including Nursing Homes, Assisted Living, Hospices and more.
The Nursing Assistant program launched April 8, 2019 and the first group of students will complete the program at the end of May! Four additional classes will be offered in 2019 in June, July, September, and October.
