Culinary Professional Grad

Going to IOT was one of the best decisions of my life. I have always wanted to be a Chef since I was young.

It was meant to be to go to this school. I had inquired about Culinary school well before I applied. I was laid off at my job as an In-Home Caregiver, and three days later I received a call from the school asking me if I wanted to come take a tour. I fell in love with the school and made the commitment.

I promised myself that I would do my very best to get on the Dean’s List.

I am a single mom of two boys, worked two jobs, volunteered for two different organizations, and went to IOT full time. I fulfilled my promise to myself by keeping my grades up, ultimately having the highest grades in class and graduating on the Dean’s List.

Career Services was invaluable to me. They helped me create the perfect resume, printed out a beautiful portfolio, and recommended me for fantastic job opportunities. I was privileged to get to do my externship at Erna’s Elderberry House where I was offered a job.

After working there a few months I started receiving multiple job offers. I decided to accept the position as Head of Catering at Madera Community Hospital. My dream is to one day have my own Food Truck. I am so lucky to have had all of these wonderful opportunities and have the people at IOT in my life.

I’m excited to see what’s next.
