‘Tis the Season to Volunteer

Maybe it’s something about the weather, the extra time away from work and school or something about the giving spirit of the holidays, but many people see this time of year as the perfect opportunity to volunteer. What’s more, there are plenty of opportunities right here in your community! To make your search a little easier, we’ve provided a helpful link below. It’s a great resource for finding volunteer opportunities that match your interests and schedule.

Why should I volunteer during the holidays?

Help those who are less fortunate – Let’s face it, the holidays aren’t easy for a lot of families. Some people struggle to afford gifts or, worse yet, clothe and feed their children. Giving your time, effort, and in some cases money, can go a long way toward helping people who don’t have the support the rest of us do.

It can make you feel good – Who couldn’t use a little extra holiday cheer? Volunteering not only helps others, it can make you feel good about yourself, too. There’s no shame in taking pride in doing something nice for someone else. In fact, it might even make you want to turn volunteering into a regular habit. It’s a win-win!

Gain experience – If you’re a student, volunteering is a great way to get experience doing the things you hope to do in your professional life. Plus, it can look good on your resume. Many employers like to see that you’ve taken the initiative to go beyond what’s required.

Better your community – Whether you help organize a food drive, make repairs to houses in a local neighborhood or volunteer your time at an animal shelter, these little things can add up and help make your community a better place to live.
